home-canned beauty

I love to add jar after jar of vibrant home-grown goodness to my pantry shelves.

They are full of natural beauty, color and texture and yet, though they rarely see it, they seem so deserving of embellishment.

♥ such lovely little treasures  ♥

her Love of fall

There are so many things that I love about these pictures.  This has been one of the most wonderfully kind and joyful autumns that I remember.

cool, crisp nights…beautiful sunny, warm days

This festive display shows what I was able to grow from the 18 [or so] varieties of pumpkins and squash that I planted in our soil.  I really should have had far more than this ton-and-a-half truck could handle but I’ll enjoy the colorful medley that is mine.   Shortly after taking these pictures, our evening temps took a steep plummet to 25º and I was forced to bring this collection inside and am now dispersing autumn throughout my home.  As we look forward to our fall family celebration at the end of the month I can hopefully get some of them back out on the old truck.

Autumn seems to bring so much work and with my next Boho Art Retreat right around the corner each day is spent keeping very, very busy.  Each day also brings anticipation!

I love the last picture…with the sprinkler going in the background and the scarecrow wearing a fun country dress that I made using some of my grandpa’s worn-out overalls…it just makes me smile.

the beginnings of autumn harvest

I’ve developed such a silly love of beets.

I love their beauty and their health benefits are too impressive to ignore.

I enjoy them fixed a variety of ways.

My favorite way to consume beets is juiced so I mostly grew them this year to store and juice over the next several months.

On another note…last week we picked 82 ears of corn and froze it.  Such a sweet moment…this was the first time our corn did well enough to get some for the freezer.
