Bσhσ Camp.7

Boho Camp.7

Have I mentioned how much I love Bσhσ Art Retreats?  It’s maybe been a while but, of course, I have.  It was my dream, after all, to host a weekend retreat that was designed ‘special’ for someone like me.  I love it that gals can drive in to our rural, country setting, park their car and not leave until the weekend is over…we eat, sleep, relax and create to our heart’s content…it’s very small, intimate and all for one very affordable price.

The dream really began with my own desire to attend an art retreat where I could be pampered and inspired and refreshed and I still hope to someday do just that.  Honestly though, another retreat might have a hard time measuring up.  I know that sounds completely snobbish and I don’t mean for it to but I feel like I have something very special happening here each time we gather together for a weekend of Bσhσ.  I’m not sure how it happens…it just happens and I am completely blessed because of it.

Actually, I do know how it happens…it happens with a lot of work and detailed planning {not to mention a very good cook} but it’s the women who attend each time that really make it special.

What can I say, it just seems to attract the nicest of gals!

When I design a workshop with these creative gals in mind [not necessarily even knowing who they are], I find it challenging.  I want for it to not only challenge them but I want for it to be one where they can insert their own creativity and personality…to have a one-of-a-kind piece that brings joy.  This year’s workshops, I believe, did just that.  I found them to be the perfect combination.  I’ll admit that because I was my own photographer the variety of pictures available to me is ‘lacking’.  Here is the POST where I showed the workshops but you’ll see some of the works-in-progress in the following pictures as well.

2013 Retreat Workshops.

Boho 2013

This post has been a hard one coming and a long time coming.  I’m so thankful for the gals who are signed up for the April retreat who have been patient and content with a little information here and a little information there to keep them going.

Boho Art Retreats was birthed in 2009 out of a desire to share creativity with women at my homeplace.  I want to live as much life as I can right here at home. I have spent too much time over the years ‘going’ and now I try to focus on ‘staying’. I also enjoy sharing my life and love of creating with others.  Why not just do it here?  I say ‘yes’ to that.  It limits my numbers but I see that as being good.  I’ve decided over the years that small and intimate is wonderful, enjoyable and just feels right. [I will, however, forever carry a dream of having a large classroom and more lodging]

I’m very excited for this year’s workshops.  They have challenged me and I believe that as gals work away at combining their own ideas with mine, they will have great fun and find fulfillment in their own creativity along the way.

I have two main workshops that we will work on throughout the weekend with some ‘filler’ options available to make sure there is no down time.    [there are always a few gals love to work late into the evening]

Workshop #1 :: A Charmed Wallflower

This workshop will begin with basic soldering 101.  As we work through these basics of soldering we will create our own custom soldered charm and then will proceed to these larger soldered pieces that will be worked into this fun wall hanging.  The longest piece of glass shown here is 2×8.  I chose a theme for this that is basically reflective of happy thoughts.

Workshop #2 :: The Framed Celebration    ~an heirloom gallery

This hand-crafted shadowbox allows you to take a thematic grouping, add your own artistic touch to create something with personal significance [theme ideas :: family, friends, home, hobby, a lost loved one, etc].  This framed piece measures 13×16 with ½” dividers.  It can be divided and designed as you choose keeping in mind that the depth of space inside is a ½”.  I chose a theme for this that would honor the women in my life who were committed to life and love.

Retreats are in April and October.  For more retreat information go HERE.  Follow THIS LINK for the supply list.

it’s a Boho Valentine

[

Boho Valentine 2013

February is a perfect time to spend a day with other gals being creative.  This Valentine-themed workshop is a favorite day for me each year.  I hosted it the weekend after Valentine's Day which seemed to encourage a smaller turn-out.  Although I love having my house buzzing with a lot of creatives I also love the calm and quiet that comes with having a smaller group.  Sometimes that even allows for me to pick up some glitter and hot glue.  [I made a fun little number which might possibly be a separate post].

It was a sweet treat having Becky and Holly of All That Glitter spend the day with us, teaching this very, very fun workshop. [thanks ladies...from the bottom of my sweet, little, thankful heart I say, "Thank You!".  ♥

I could also say a huge and very thankful., "Thank You!" to Amber of Tres Birds Photography for all of the beautiful images in this post.  I'm in love with her friendship and her photography.  [pure loveliness]  ♥

Another thing that I found lovely from this day was that I had three gals here who had never had this Boho experience before.  They seemed to not leave disappointed and I’m certain that I’ll be seeing each of them again.  It makes me happy to walk through experience this with ladies [it really is an experience]…their chance to get away for the day, be creative, eat wonderful food together and leave with a sense of fulfillment.  It even makes me happier when I know that I’ll see them again some day.

Stay tuned for new information on the 2013 weekend retreats planned for April and October.  I have a much too relaxed approach to these this year which I’ll say is refreshing and disturbing all at the same time.  I will also say that I am very excited for each one and the time that will be spent with the gals that have signed up to attend.
